Coaching Fees & Workshop Pricing: Accessible, Community-Focused Rates
Growth and healing don’t always have to happen one-on-one. Affinity Circles and workshops offer powerful, accessible ways to learn, connect, and transform in community. Here’s everything you need to know about pricing for group coaching and educational offerings.
Investment in Community Growth: Coaching and Workshop Fees
I believe that transformative experiences shouldn’t be limited to those who can afford individual therapy. That’s why I created Affinity Circles and workshops as accessible alternatives that harness the power of community, shared learning, and collective healing.
These group coaching and educational offerings are priced intentionally to remove financial barriers while creating sustainable, high-quality experiences. Here’s exactly what everything costs, with no hidden fees or surprises.
Affinity Circles: Group Coaching with Sliding Scale Pricing
Affinity Circles are 90-120 minute group coaching sessions where participants come together around shared themes, challenges, or goals. These circles create space for connection, learning, skill-building, and mutual support in an intimate group setting.
Affinity Circles Pricing
- 90-120 minute session: $30-$65 sliding scale
The sliding scale coaching model for Affinity Circles means you choose what you can afford within that range. This isn’t about proving your income or justifying your financial situation. It’s about honoring where you are right now and trusting you to pay what feels sustainable for you.
How Sliding Scale Coaching Works
When you register for an Affinity Circle, you’ll select your rate somewhere between $30 and $65. Here’s a general framework to help you decide, though ultimately the choice is yours:
$30-$40: Choose this range if money is genuinely tight right now. Maybe you’re between jobs, managing significant debt, supporting family members, or living on a limited fixed income. You want to participate but need the most affordable option to make it possible.
$45-$55: Choose this range if you can cover your basic needs but don’t have much cushion. You’re working but living paycheck to paycheck, or you have some savings but are being careful about discretionary spending. This feels like a stretch but a worthwhile one.
$60-$65: Choose this range if you’re financially comfortable and able to invest in personal growth without significant sacrifice. Paying at the higher end helps subsidize spots for others and keeps these group coaching rates accessible to everyone.
There’s no judgment about where you land on this scale. The goal is to make Affinity Circles accessible while maintaining the quality and sustainability of the offering.
Workshops & Educational Offerings: Focused Learning Experiences
Workshops are 1-3 hour educational sessions focused on specific topics, skills, or areas of personal development. These might include communication skills, emotional regulation, relationship patterns, mindfulness practices, or other themes relevant to mental health and personal growth.
Workshop Pricing
- 1-3 hour workshops: Priced pro-rata based on workshop length and content
Workshop pricing varies depending on the length of the session, the complexity of the material, and whether materials or resources are included. Each workshop listing will include clear pricing information so you know exactly what to expect before you register.
Generally, you can expect workshop pricing to be significantly more affordable than individual coaching or therapy sessions, as the group format allows costs to be shared among participants. My goal is to make these educational offerings accessible while delivering high-quality, evidence-based content.
Why Group Coaching and Workshops?
You might be wondering why I offer these group options alongside individual therapy. The answer is simple: community healing is powerful, and not everyone needs or can afford one-on-one work.
In Affinity Circles and workshops, you benefit from multiple perspectives, shared experiences, and the knowledge that you’re not alone in your struggles. There’s something uniquely healing about witnessing others navigate similar challenges and being witnessed yourself. Plus, the coaching fees for group work are naturally more accessible than individual sessions.
Group coaching rates and sliding scale coaching options mean more people can access support, tools, and connection. And for many, this is exactly the right fit. Some participants eventually transition to individual therapy, while others find that group work meets all their needs.
What to Expect in Affinity Circles
Affinity Circles typically run 90-120 minutes and include 6-10 participants. Each circle has a specific theme or focus, which is clearly described when you register. Some circles are drop-in, while others are closed groups that meet for a set number of sessions.
During circles, I facilitate discussion, teach relevant concepts or skills, guide experiential exercises, and create space for participants to share, reflect, and support one another. The exact structure varies based on the circle’s theme, but the foundation is always the same: genuine connection, mutual respect, and collective growth.
Because these are group experiences, confidentiality is essential. What’s shared in the circle stays in the circle. Everyone commits to creating a safe, non-judgmental space where vulnerability is honored and differences are respected.
Payment Methods: Convenient and Accessible Options
I accept multiple payment methods to make coaching fees and workshop pricing as manageable as possible:
- Credit and Debit Cards: Visa, Mastercard, and American Express accepted
- Health Savings Account (HSA) Cards: Coaching and workshops may qualify depending on your plan
- Flexible Spending Account (FSA) Cards: Another option for some participants
- Automated Payments: Available for recurring Affinity Circles through our secure client portal
Payment is typically required at registration to secure your spot. For ongoing circles, you can set up automated payments for convenience.
Insurance and Coaching: Important Distinctions
Unlike therapy, coaching and educational workshops are not typically covered by health insurance. These are considered personal or professional development services rather than medical treatment, which means insurance companies don’t provide reimbursement.
This distinction is actually important. Because these aren’t clinical services, they don’t require a mental health diagnosis, and nothing becomes part of your medical record. You’re participating in educational and growth-oriented work, not treatment for a disorder.
The tradeoff is that sliding scale coaching and affordable workshop pricing make these offerings accessible even without insurance coverage. Many participants find that group coaching rates are comparable to or less than their therapy copays would be.
Cancellation Policy for Circles and Workshops
Because Affinity Circles and workshops rely on group dynamics and I prepare materials based on expected attendance, cancellations affect not just me but other participants as well.
I require 48-hour notice for cancellations or rescheduling. If you cancel with less than 48 hours notice, you’ll be charged the full fee for the session or workshop you registered for. This policy helps ensure committed participation and protects the group experience.
For multi-session circles, if you need to miss a session due to illness or emergency, let me know as soon as possible. While you’ll still be charged for the session, I can often provide resources or a brief check-in to help you stay connected to the group’s work.
Upcoming Circles and Workshops
Affinity Circles pricing and workshop schedules are posted on our website as they become available. Some offerings run continuously, while others are seasonal or based on demand. If you’re interested in a particular topic or theme that isn’t currently offered, let me know. I often design new circles and workshops based on community interest.
To stay informed about upcoming offerings, you can join our mailing list or follow us on social media. When new circles or workshops are announced, you’ll get early access to registration.

Our services
Meet Erica Johnson, MA, LMFT
I am a licensed therapist, educator, and founder of Affinity Counseling and Affinity Pathfinder.
My work is shaped by lived experience, global travel, creative practice in theatre, and years of supporting people navigating trauma, burnout, and moral injury.
As a Peace Corps volunteer, I led theatre-for-social-change and community health education programs, learning firsthand how creativity, ritual, and collective regulation support resilience under pressure.
I later developed and taught the university course Self-Care in Theatre, which reframed self-care as self-preservation and community responsibility, grounded in Audre Lorde’s work and trauma-informed practice.
Across my teaching, curriculum design, and clinical work, I have seen the same truth again and again:
Most people are not broken. They are overwhelmed. Misattuned to. Carrying too much alone.
My work centers nervous system safety, honest relationship, creative expression, and deep respect for each person’s values and context.
For me, coaching is not about optimization. It is about helping people come back to themselves— so they can return to their communities with clarity, courage, and care.
I consider it a privilege to walk alongside people as they reclaim their energy, creativity, and sense of purpose.
